BELOW ARE A FEW GRANT OPPORTUNITIES THAT MIGHT BE OF INTEREST |
|
| |
1) The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) offers Preservation and Access Education and Training Grants. NEH supports the preservation of cultural heritage via libraries, museums and historical organizations that collect and maintain archeological/ethnographic artifacts and other facets of culture. This grant, in particular, facilitates education for organization staff so that they might better “obtain the knowledge and skills needed to serve as effective stewards of humanities collections.” $350,000 will be disbursed to awardees. The application deadline is May 1, 2013. Good candidates: Non-profit organizations, state, local, city, tribal, and township governments, public and private institutions of higher education that exists in the United States and its territories. For more information, CLICK HERE.
2) The Department of Homeland Security (DHS)--FEMA is accepting applications for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program for Fire Prevention and Safety (FP&S). FP&S grants were drafted to support two objectives, including supporting activities that will (1) educate high risk groups about fire hazards and provide tools for prevention, and (2) develop projects to improve the health, safety and wellness of firefighters. Eligible activities include those for general education and increased fire prevention awareness as well as education about how to investigate for arson and understand and enforce fire codes. The program will distribute $35 million in funding to 500 awardees. The application deadline is January 18, 2013. Good candidates: Fire departments, national, regional, state, local, Native American tribal organizations, and community organizations with expertise in fire prevention and safety; excludes for-profit organizations and federal agencies. For more information, CLICK HERE.
3) The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is accepting applications for the Source Reduction Assistance (SRA) grant program dedicated to pollution prevention and reduction. Conservation projects that eliminate pollution are also supported by the grant. Proposed projects should meet at least one of the program’s five strategies, including: “(1) Reduce the generation of GHG emissions to mitigate climate change, (2) Reduce the manufacture and use of hazardous materials to improve human and ecological health, (3) Reduce the use of water and conserve other natural resources to protect ecosystems, (4) Create business efficiencies that derive economic benefits and improve environmental performance, and (5) Institutionalize and integrate pollution prevention practices through government services, policies, and initiatives.” Additional regional priorities may apply—see the link below for details. Over $1 million is available with an award ceiling of $147,000 per region. The application deadline is February 5, 2013. Good candidates: States and U.S. territories, tribal, local, city, and township governments, school district governance, public and private institutions of higher education, non-profit and grassroots community organizations.
