From Capital Partnerships LLC

WELCOME TO GRANTS ALERT, VOL. 48

FLASH:  Capital Partnerships is proud to announce the US Department of Health and Human Services is today awarding a multi-year grant of $ 17.5 Million to a consortium of early childhood education and health partners in Columbus. The grant will go to lead agency, The Ohio State University’s Schoenbaum Family Center, to develop a comprehensive network of support for approximately 160 infants, toddlers and families. We were thrilled to have assisted in the construction of the application!

Our e-newsletter is designed to highlight significant federal and private funding opportunities, particularly in the grant development fields where we specialize.  Among these are:

  • Public Works
  • Economic Development
  • Environment, Energy
  • Health and Human Services
  • Justice, Homeland Security and FEMA
  • The Arts

In this “GRANTS ALERT” edition, you will be able to pinpoint a sampling of current funding options that will benefit your community, association, company, client, and perhaps even your children!  A link will connect you to more details.

BELOW ARE A FEW GRANT OPPORTUNITIES THAT MIGHT BE OF INTEREST

1) The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) extended the deadline for submissions to the Environmental Justice Small Grants Program. This year, proposals should focus on climate change responsiveness, including “supporting community-based preparedness and resilience efforts (community climate resiliency).” The EPA is especially interested in seeing grant proposals that address the needs of underrepresented communities that are disproportionately vulnerable to climate change and its associated risks and potential disasters. The awards aims to build capacity for local-based efforts and strategies for disaster mitigation. $1.2 in funding is available, with an award ceiling of $30,000. The application deadline is January 9, 2015. Good candidates: 501(c)(3) status non-profit organizations in the U.S. as well as Native American tribal governments and organizations. For more information, click HERE.

2) The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) offers the Sparks! Ignition Grants for Libraries Program, which assists librarians and archivists as they assess their service capabilities and seek to innovate in their operations. Grants “support the deployment, testing, and evaluation of promising and groundbreaking new tools, products, services, or organizational practices.” Proposals should include a way to test new practices or tools and suggestions for how you will disseminate your findings widely so that others may benefit from the work funded by the grant. Proposals should also consider how widely adoptable your potential innovations may be as the funders seek to make a broad impact through the awards. Funding ranges from $10,000 to $25,000 for successful proposals. The application deadline is February 2, 2015. Good candidates: State and local governments, non-profit organizations, libraries, library consortia and associations, school districts, and higher education institutions. For more information, click HERE.

3) The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) is inviting applications for the Five Star/Urban Waters Restoration Program. The program funds projects that protect and strengthen water quality, watersheds, aquatic habitats, and the related ecosystem segments that rely on them. The Five Star/Urban Waters Restoration Program is supported by a number of partners (e.g., FedEx, the U.S. Forest Service, etc.) and each of these partners has a different funding goal, regional specification, and set of expectations; find these details at the link below. The award ceiling is $50,000 and requires a one-to-one funding match. The application deadline is February 3, 2015. Good candidates: 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations; state, local, and municipal government organizations; Native American tribes; and educational institutions. For more information, click HERE.

Purse strings are tightening and budgets will be cut, but the federal government will continue to spend billions of dollars. A lot of these funds will be accessed by those who have experienced help in seeking grants, contracts and program funds!
