WELCOME TO GRANTS ALERT, VOL. 35

Our e-newsletter is designed to highlight significant federal and private funding opportunities, particularly in the grant development fields where we specialize.  Among these are:

  • Public Works
  • Economic Development
  • Environment, Energy
  • Health and Human Services
  • Justice, Homeland Security and FEMA
  • The Arts

In this “GRANTS ALERT” edition, you will be able to pinpoint a sampling of current funding options that will benefit your community, association, company, client, and perhaps even your children!  A link will connect you to more details.

BELOW ARE A FEW GRANT OPPORTUNITIES THAT MIGHT BE OF INTEREST

1) The American Association of University Women (AAUW) offers Community Action Grants. Grants aid individuals, AAUW branches, and non-profit organizations as they research, develop and deploy education programs working with girls and young women. In prior years, successful projects included adult literacy programs, math tutoring for young children, and after-school tutoring and mentorship of young girls; this year, education programs that focus on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education are especially encouraged. Grant awards should be applied to projects that have  direct action community involvement. Awards range from $2,000 to $10,000. One and two year initiatives are eligible. The application deadline is January 15, 2014. Good candidates: Women who are US citizens and women-centered non-profit organizations based in the US. For more information, click HERE.

2) A new grant has been announced by the eWomenNetwork Foundation to support organizations that improve “the emotional and financial wellbeing” of underprivileged women and children. Organizations may address health, safety, wellness and other unmet needs of your local community. Small grants of $6,000 will be awarded and the Foundation will sponsor a member of winning organizations to attend a grants program at the eWomenNetwork Foundation International Conference and Business Expo in Dallas, Texas. The application deadline is March 31, 2014. Good candidates: Local (not national) non-profit organizations that operate in a region with an eWomenNetwork chapter and which serve women and children; successful applicant organizations must be at least three years old and have an annual operating budget between $25,000 and $1 million. For more information, click HERE.

3) The Association of American Colleges and Universities (AACU) is now accepting applications for Bringing Theory to Practice Project grants. Grants will help colleges and universities to further develop civic engagement and experiential learning projects that promote deeper learning among students, and which build stronger relationships among students, the university, and communities outside of the university. The AACU will fund two kinds of projects: a seminar grant provides $1,000 to “bring together diverse members of the campus community to discuss the civic mission of the institution and how the full expression of this mission can be achieved;” a program development grant provides $10,000 to support projects that enact the Bringing Theory to Practice Project objectives of advocating for “engaged learning, civic development, and the psychosocial well-being of students.” Applications are due quarterly with an upcoming deadline on December 15, 2013 and another on March 15, 2014. Good candidates: AAUC member US institutions of higher education. For additional information, including AACU explanations for work that counts as “engaged learning” and “civic development,” click HERE.
