BELOW ARE A FEW GRANT OPPORTUNITIES THAT MIGHT BE OF INTEREST |
|
| |
1) The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) offers grants for Museums, Libraries and Cultural Organizations. Organizations that offer public programs in support of the humanities may apply for either planning or implementation grants. Implementation grants could fund exhibitions at museums, libraries and cultural centers; interpretations of historic sites; film or book discussions; living history presentations and the development of interpretive websites or other digital formats. Implementation grants can fund “scholarly research and consultation, design development, production, and installation of a project for presentation to the public.” Planning grants, on the other hand, “support the early stages of project development, including consultation with scholars, refinement of humanities themes, preliminary design, testing, and audience evaluation.” The award ceiling is $1 million. The application deadline is January 8, 2014. Good candidates: State and local governments, non-profit organizations, public and private institutions of higher education, Native American and special district governing bodies. For more information, click HERE.
2) Wells Fargo is partnering with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) on an Environmental Initiatives for Communities grant program—a program that links the development of healthy communities and healthy economies with the fostering of healthy ecosystems. The program aims to help communities develop environmental stewardship capabilities through the following means: enhancing water quality and wildlife habitats while maintaining agricultural productivity; conservation of habitats and wildlife areas in the community; efforts to promote urban forestry and train community leaders, volunteers, and diverse community partners; efforts to “green” infrastructure and public works; and efforts to promote the resiliency of coastal habitats (including ocean coasts and the Great Lakes). Awards range from $25,000 to $100,000. The application deadline is December 16, 2013. Good candidates: Non-profit organizations, state, local and Native American tribal governments, and institutions of higher education; all applicants must work in states in which Wells Fargo operates. A list of state and regional priorities, along with additional grant information, can be found HERE.
3) The Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) are accepting applications for Railway Safety Technology Grants. Grants facilitate “the deployment of train control technologies, train control component technologies, processor-based technologies, electronically controlled pneumatic brakes, rail integrity inspection systems, rail integrity warning systems, switch position indicators and monitors, remote control power switch technologies, track integrity circuit technologies, and other new or novel railroad safety technology.” An award ceiling of $550,000 is available. The deadline is February 5, 2014. Good candidates: State and local governments, Native American tribal governments, institutions of higher education, passenger and freight railroad carriers, and railroad suppliers. Purse strings are tightening and budgets will be cut, but the federal government will continue to spend billions of dollars. A lot of these funds will be accessed by those who have experienced help in seeking grants, contracts and program funds!
