BELOW ARE A FEW GRANT OPPORTUNITIES THAT MIGHT BE OF INTEREST

1) The Department of Interior (DOI)’s Bureau of Reclamation is accepting WaterSMART grants for its Title XVI Water Reclamation and Reuse Program. Water reuse is essential, especially in the western regions of the U.S., which are experiencing historic water shortages and drought. The Program defines water reuse projects as those that reclaim and reuse “municipal, industrial, domestic, or agricultural wastewater and naturally impaired groundwater and/or surface waters” to serve a variety of aims, ranging from groundwater recharge to habitat restoration and recreation. A total of $21.5 million is available with an award ceiling of $4 million; the DOI expects to make 5-10 awards this year. The application deadline is December 15, 2014. Good candidates: Unrestricted (follow the links for more details). For more information, click HERE and HERE.

2) The Federal Transit Authority (FTA) hosts an Innovative Public Transportation Workforce Development Program, offering up to $9 million. Successful applicants will focus on building new and innovative models for a strong transportation workforce. Projects may include employment training programs, workforce development activities, and outreach programs to attract transit women and minority employees, for example. The application deadline is December 23, 2014. Good candidates: Urban and rural transit agencies; state Departments of Transportation; city, county, and state governments; Metropolitan Planning Organizations; Native American tribal organizations; non-profit organizations; and institutions of higher education. 3) The Foundation for Technology and Engineering Educators is providing $2,000 awards to K-12 teachers through its Excellence in Teaching Technology and Engineering Grant Program. Grants promote “integration of a quality technology and engineering education program within the school curriculum. Criteria include: (1) evidence of an effective quality technology and engineering education program, (2) documented success in the integration of technology and engineering education with other academic subjects, and (3) plans for professional development via the anticipated grant.” The application deadline is December 1, 2014. Good candidates: K-12 grade teachers. For more information, click HERE.
