BELOW ARE A FEW GRANT OPPORTUNITIES THAT MIGHT BE OF INTEREST |
|
| |
1) The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is forming the FAA Center of Excellence (COE) for Alternative Jet Fuels and Environment, a joint effort that draws together university partners and private industry to collaborate with the FAA to address air transportation issues. Potential partners will propose research that addresses one of the two areas of COE focus: (1) alternative jet fuels, including development, supply, environmental benefit analysis, and fuel performance testing, and (2) environmental impacts including aviation emissions, aircraft noise, technology assessment, and aviation modeling and analysis. The FAA is expecting to make 10 awards, however, no funding budget has been released to the public. Applicants can attend an information session November 15 and 16 in Washington, D.C. to learn more about the consortium and deadlines to submit applications; decisions on partnerships will be made in FY2013. Public, private and state institutions of higher education.

2) The Institute of Museum and Library Science (IMLS) conducts the Museums for America Program (MFA) to financially support museums in their important work serving as community centers for lifelong learning. The MFA will fund a variety of programming as long as it meets one of three goals. The first funding category focuses on Learning Experiences, placing the learner at the center of experiential programming; the second, Community Anchors, emphasizes efforts to centralize civic life in the community around the museum. The third, Collections Stewardship, promotes the growth of collections and collections accessibility. 185 awards will be offered, with a funding range of $5000 up to $150,000. The application deadline is January 15, 2013. Good candidates: Non-profit organizations or any unit of state or local government that exists in the United States and its territories. Candidates must also be qualifying museums or agencies that represent such museums (see eligibility details at the link).

3) The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) modified a recent call for applications for DELTA FOCUS (Domestic Violence Prevention Enhancement and Leadership Through Alliances, Focusing on Outcomes for Communities United with States) grants. Grants will support evidence-based programs to prevent intimate partner violence. Prevention strategies "will address the structural determinants of health at the outer layers (societal and community) of the social ecological model (SEM) that coordinate and align with existing prevention strategies at the inner layers of the SEM. This program addresses the 'Healthy People 2020' focus area(s) of Injury and Violence Prevention and Social Determinants of Health." 12 grants will be awarded to provide $340,00 to $410,000 to each successful applicant. The application closing date is November 19, 2012. Good candidates: Non-profit organizations (excluding institutions of higher education) and State Domestic Violence Coalitions.

Purse strings are tightening and budgets will be cut, but the federal government will continue to spend billions of dollars. A lot of these funds will be accessed by those who have experienced help in seeking grants, contracts and program funds!
