BELOW ARE A FEW GRANT OPPORTUNITIES THAT MIGHT BE OF INTEREST |
|
| |
1) The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) offers Our Town grants to strengthen communities through “creative place-making.” The four main goals of the NEA grants are to use art and design to: improve quality of life; encourage creative activity; foster the development of community identity and a sense of place; and revitalize economic development. Grant awards will range from $25,000 to $200,000. Applications may propose projects for art engagement, cultural planning and/or design as a means of developing a long-term plan for improved civic engagement and community livability. The application deadline is January 13, 2013. Good candidates: Successful applicants will mobilize partnerships between local government entities and non-profit agencies, one of which must focus on culture, arts and/or design. For more information, click HERE.
2) The Institute of Museum and Library Services is taking applications for Museums for America grants (MFA). MFA grants improve libraries so that they serve as site facilitating lifelong learning. Examples of fundable activities include “planning, managing and conserving collections, improving public access, training, conducting programmatic research, school and public programming, producing exhibitions, and integrating new or upgraded technologies into your operations.” Among those activities, applications should identify one major funding category to which they will apply: learning experiences, community anchors, and collections stewardship. Awards range from $5,000 to $150,000 over a period of three years of funding. The application deadline is December 2, 2013. Good candidates: Museums that are units of state or local governments or nonprofit organizations within the USA and its territories. For more information, click HERE.
3) The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) released a call for applications to the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. These FEMA grants enhance the safety of communities through the provision of resources to firefighting and EMS organizations. Grants will be made to improve operations and safety and/or acquire vehicles to prevent, protect and mitigate emergencies. Nearly $3 million is available to be shared among successful applicants. The deadline is December 6, 2013, but applicants should begin the registration process as soon as possible since it may take up to two weeks to register during peak times. Good candidates: Fire departments, nonaffiliated EMS organizations, and state fire training academies. For more information, click HERE.

Purse strings are tightening and budgets will be cut, but the federal government will continue to spend billions of dollars. A lot of these funds will be accessed by those who have experienced help in seeking grants, contracts and program funds!
