BELOW ARE A FEW GRANT OPPORTUNITIES THAT MIGHT BE OF INTEREST |
|
| |
1) The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is making Urban Waters Small Grants to improve water quality in urban regions. Projects that support community revitalization in underserved communities and that improve surrounding water and land are particularly welcome—these projects promote the EPA’s broader goals of improved water quality and environmental justice. Grants can fund research, training, surveys, and other investigations. In particular, three broad types of projects will be funded: Community Greening and Green Infrastructure; Communities and Water Quality Data; and Integration of Water Quality and Community Development in Planning. $1.6 million in total funding is available with an award range of $40,000 to $60,000. The application deadline is December 25, 2013. Good candidates: States, local governments, territories, Native American tribes, universities, non-profit organizations, and interstate agencies. Applicants should propose projects that address one of the 18 eligible regions selected by the EPA; that information and more can be found HERE.
2) Fiskars Corporation supports the community garden movement by accepting applications for their grant program, Project Orange Thumb, an initiative to create or radically make over community gardens. Grants are awarded to provide “tools, materials, and other support to help communities reach their goals for neighborhood beautification, community collaboration, and healthy, sustainable food sources.” Ten (10) $5,000 awards will be made to help communities create a new community garden and one applicant will win a complete community garden makeover. The deadline is December 31, 2013. Good candidates: Non-profit organizations with 501(c)(3) status in both the US and Canada, including schools and municipalities. For more information, including projects that have been funded in the last five years, CLICK HERE.
3) ArtPlace has announced its call for Letters of Intent due December 13, 2013. ArtPlace is a collaborative between the National Endowment for the Arts and major private funders to reward projects that put art at the center of creative placemaking, encouraging diversity and vibrancy in America’s neighborhoods. Funding 100% of project costs, Capital Partnerships was part of a writing a winning submission last year. Check it out HERE.

Purse strings are tightening and budgets will be cut, but the federal government will continue to spend billions of dollars. A lot of these funds will be accessed by those who have experienced help in seeking grants, contracts and program funds!
