BELOW ARE A FEW GRANT OPPORTUNITIES THAT MIGHT BE OF INTEREST |
|
| |
1) The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) provides grants for a Rural Community Development Initiative (RCDI). Funding will be allocated to organizations creating jobs and fostering economic development in rural areas. This grant distinguishes between grant recipients, which may include non-profit organizations, small, rural communities, or tribal organizations, and “intermediary organizations” that will provide assistance to the grant recipients to aid in rural development. In this case, “Qualified intermediary organizations receiving the grants will provide financial and technical assistance to recipients to develop their capacity to undertake housing, community facilities, or community and economic development projects.” $5.6 million is available to grant recipients and intermediary organizations must match the award from the RCDI grant. The application deadline is November 12, 2013. Good candidates: Non-profit organizations, low income rural communities, and Native American tribes. For more information, CLICK HERE.
2) The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) released a call for applications for Art Works grants. Art Works grants support research on the value and impact of the arts in American life. The NEA welcomes applications from researchers working in diverse disciplinary fields to track the wide array of potential impacts art may have on social life (e.g., economics, health and medicine, regional planning, etc.). 25 awards will be made with an award ceiling up to $30,000. The application deadline is November 5, 2013. Good candidates: Non-profit entities including state and local governments, Native American tribal governments and organizations, school districts, institutions of higher education, and non-profit organizations. For more information, CLICK HERE.
3) Aetna Foundation offers Regional Grants to encourage community wellness through healthy food choices and healthy activity. Supported programs are aimed at children and families; in the past, Aetna Foundation has funded school programs and afterschool activities to encourage nutritional, eating habits, physical activities, and other forms of wellness, including access to community healthcare and community gardens. Applications that target regions Aetna identifies as especially at risk for low health outcomes (including low-income and minority populations that are underserved) are especially welcome. Click the link below to find out which states and cities are priority regions. Applications that address food deserts and areas with limited green space and other areas that encourage exercise and play are also well suited for the grant. Awards may range from $25,000 to $40,000. The deadline is September 15, 2013. Good candidates: Non-profit organizations with 501(c)(3) status. For more information, CLICK HERE.
