BELOW ARE A FEW GRANT OPPORTUNITIES THAT MIGHT BE OF INTEREST |
|
| |
1)
- The Economic Development Administration (EDA) offers a Regional Innovation Strategies Program (RIS) to develop new companies, services, and products as a means to strengthen regional economic development. RIS grants are available through two competitions: The i6 Challenge is “designed to support the creation of centers for innovation and entrepreneurship that increase the commercialization of innovations, ideas, intellectual property, and research into viable companies.” The Seed Fund Support grants support “technical assistance, feasibility studies, marketing, and outreach” for start-up companies in exchange for equity. RIS will award $10 million across the two categories of competition. The application deadline is October 5, 2015. Good candidates: Higher education institutions; non-profit organizations; state, local, and Native American tribal governments; as well as consortiums of the above organizations and public-private partnerships. For more information, click HERE.
2) The National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Discovery Research PreK-12 Program is a research and development program to build the nation’s STEM (science, engineering, math, and technology) education capacities. Five different kinds of projects may be funded, including exploratory; design and development; impact; implementation and improvement; and conferences and syntheses. Within these five types of projects, a proposal may focus on STEM education assessment, learning in STEM education, or teaching the STEM fields. $50 million is available; the NSF expects to make 35-45 awards. The application deadline is December 7, 2015. Good candidates: Eligibility is unrestricted. For more information, click HERE.
3) The National Science Foundation (NSF) offers grants for Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) to increase the number of students from underrepresented populations that graduate from higher education with a STEM degree. There are four types of alliance awards: (1) alliances with multiple institutional partnerships that focus on undergraduate recruitment and retention; (2) Bridge to Baccalaureate Alliances, which focus on providing community colleges with the preparation needed to facilitate the successful transfer of students to a 4-year institution to study in a STEM field; (3) Bridge to the Doctorate, which helps institutions that have participated in the alliance program to send students to graduate school in STEM with fellowships, and (4) Pre-Alliance Planning Grants that allow organizations and institutions the ability to undertake “planning activities necessary to form new alliances or regional outreach and knowledge-diffusion centers of excellence.” Over $45 million in grants will be made to 38 successful applicants. The application deadline is November 20, 2015. Good candidates: Public and private universities and colleges and their partners. For more information, click HERE.
