BELOW ARE A FEW GRANT OPPORTUNITIES THAT MIGHT BE OF INTEREST |
|

1) The National Science Foundation (NSF) is accepting applications for Advanced Technological Education (ATE) grants to enhance technician training through educational and industry partnerships with undergraduate and secondary schools. Colleges with two-year programs in advanced technology fields are the primary targets to lead this initiative, which may involve “curriculum development; professional development of college faculty and secondary school teachers; career pathways to two-year colleges from secondary schools and from two-year colleges to four-year institutions; and other activities” (see link for more examples). $64 million is available to new and continuing successful applicants with at least 40 new applications to be approved this year. The application deadline is October 9, 2014. Good candidates: Universities and colleges; non-profit organizations with educational or research activities; for-profit organizations with a focus on scientific/technological research or education; and state and local governments. For more information, click HERE.
2) The U.S. Forest Service wants to help clean our air and water, and to provide habitat for wildlife by encouraging communities to plant forests. The Community Forest and Open Space Conservation Program (CFP) will offer up to $400,000 to successful applicants to acquire, establish, and maintain forest lands. Forests will be maintained by the local community and must have open public access. The application deadline is January 16, 2015. Good candidates: State, local, and tribal governments and non-profit organizations. For more information, click HERE.
3) The National Science Foundation (NSF) put out a call for applications for the program Designing Materials to Revolutionize and Engineer Our Future (DMREF or Designing Materials). The Designing Materials program “integrates materials discovery, development, property optimization, and systems design and optimization, with each employing a toolset to be developed within a materials innovation infrastructure. The toolset will synergistically integrate advanced computational methods and visual analytics with data-enabled scientific discovery and innovative experimental techniques to revolutionize our approach to materials science and engineering.” NSF will make $22 million available to fund this program; the award ceiling is $1.5 million. The application deadline is January 29, 2015. Good candidates: Two- and four-year academic institutions. For more information, click HERE.
