BELOW ARE A FEW GRANT OPPORTUNITIES THAT MIGHT BE OF INTEREST |
|
| |
1) The National Endowment for Arts (NEA) Our Town grant solicitation is looking for a range of artistically excellent projects and/or cultural planning efforts that support community development (e.g. transportation, land use planning, etc.). Do you have a project that enlivens your community through the arts? Does a collaborative effort exist between local government and a non-profit? If so, then consider Our Town and give Capital Partnerships a call! Creative placemaking projects should fall into one of three categories: knowledge-building, “intended to deepen and extend understanding of creative placemaking practices”; arts engagement; and design and cultural planning. $5 million in total funding is available; NEA expects to make 69 awards. The application deadline is October 8, 2015. Good candidates: Candidates must demonstrate a collaboration between a local government entity and a non-profit organization (additional collaborators are welcome); one of the primary entities must be a cultural (arts or design) organization. 2) The Forbes Under 30 $1 Million Change the World Competition is now open. The competition rewards young “social entrepreneurs with disruptive and scalable ideas with the potential to change the world.” The teams should provide innovative solutions for social problems such as poverty, education access, global health, climate change and sustainability. $1 million in total awards will be distributed and the overall winner will receive $500,000 in prizes. The application deadline is August 26, 2015. Good candidates: Businesses and non-profit organizations with a co/founder and/or top executive under 30 years of age; the organization must already be operational. These grants aim to “increase access to comprehensive, culturally competent, quality primary health care services.” Up to $50 million in total funding is available with an award ceiling of $650,000. The application deadline is February 9, 2016. Good candidates: State, local, and Native American tribal governments; public housing authorities; school districts; public and private universities and colleges; and 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations.
