BELOW ARE A FEW GRANT OPPORTUNITIES THAT MIGHT BE OF INTEREST |
|
| |
1) The Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Office of Aviation Analysis (OAA) is accepting applications for a Small Community Air Service Development Program. This grant enhances air transportation for small communities, improving service and bringing down high airfares. Grant funds can be used for a variety of purposes including, but not limited to, advertising of new air service, studies to evaluate air service limitations, and provision of financial incentives to air carriers. $11.5 million is available to as many as 40 successful applicants with no award ceiling mandated. The application deadline is July 26, 2013. Good candidates: Individual communities or a consortium of communities working together to submit one application. For more information, CLICK HERE.
2) The National Institutes of Health (NIH) are accepting applications for grants on Social, Behavioral, Health Services, and Policy Research on Minority Health and Health Disparities. The program supports research to eliminate health disparities among racial/ethnic minorities and those from rural and/or socioeconomically disadvantaged regions—communities that continue to see poorer health outcomes. The program is divided into three interest areas: social and behavioral research, health services research, and policy research. “Projects that examine understudied health conditions; examine the effectiveness of interventions, services, or policies, for multiple health disparities populations; and/or directly measure the impact of project activities on levels of health disparities are particularly encouraged.” $3 million is available with an award ceiling of $250,000. The application deadline is November 19, 2013. Good candidates: State and local governments, Native American tribal governments and organizations, school districts, institutions of higher education, community and non-profit organizations, and for-profit businesses. For more information, CLICK HERE.
3) The Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) offers a Flood Mitigation Assistance Program. Successful applicants will use the award to prevent and minimize flood damage in Native American tribal regions, U.S. states, and territories. In particular, the grant addresses “repetitive flood damage to buildings and structures insurable under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).” Three types of grants are available: planning grants to create flood mitigation plans; project grants for projects such as creating elevations or relocating insured structures; and management cost grants to administer the programs. The deadline is October 18, 2013. $1.2 million in funding has been allocated to this program. Good candidates: State, county, and local governments, territories, and Native American governments.
