BELOW ARE A FEW GRANT OPPORTUNITIES THAT MIGHT BE OF INTEREST

1) Blockbuster is accepting applications for Corporate Grants for Nonprofits. Blockbuster makes grants available to nonprofit organizations that meet at least one of the following requirements: Your project has a film or video focus; your project impacts families or children; your project supports one of the Blockbuster business objectives such as supporting employment opportunities and/or racial and sexual diversity; your project has clearly defined and measurable goals. Funding amounts are variable. There is no deadline for applications; they are reviewed monthly. Good candidates: 5013c nonprofit organizations (exclusions apply for certain types of organizations such as religious organizations, political parties, etc.). For more information, CLICK HERE.

2) The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) funds an Information Sharing Training and Technical Assistance Program. The OJJDP will facilitate the sharing of information across different kinds of state, national, and Native American governing bodies, resulting in better care for communities. In particular, the OJJDP funds training and technical assistance so that workers in juvenile justice, child welfare, mental health services, and educational systems have access to vital information that may be of common concern across those fields. The grants will “build the capacity of juvenile justice, child welfare, mental health, and education systems and use existing information sharing standards, procedures, tools, and practices across agencies to improve services and outcomes for youth, families, and communities.” OJJDP will make one grant of $175,000 to an organization. The application deadline is July 9, 2013. Good candidates: Institutions of higher education, for profit and nonprofit organizations. For more information, CLICK HERE.

3) The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) offers their CHOICE Neighborhoods Implementation Grant Program. The program supports neighborhood revitalization through the improvement of housing and neighborhood restructuring; through enhancing the lives of the people who live in the neighborhood via services that target youth and their families for economic mobility; and through creating “the conditions necessary for public and private reinvestment in distressed neighborhoods to offer the kinds of amenities and assets, including safety, good schools, and commercial activity, that are important to families’ choices about their community.” There is an award ceiling of $30 million with $109 million in total available for this program. The deadline is September 10, 2013. Good candidates: Public Housing Authorities, local and Native American tribal governments, nonprofit organizations, and for-profit developers that apply jointly with an eligible public entity.
