BELOW ARE A FEW GRANT OPPORTUNITIES THAT MIGHT BE OF INTEREST |
|
| |
1) The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Our Town grants value collaborations between local non-profit organizations and local governing entities using art to build a strong sense of place within a community. The intended outcome is to enhance liveability through increased civic engagement, job or revenue growth, new pathways for creative expression, improved public safety, or new migration into the town or city, for example. Granting priorities focus on two areas: “Arts Engagement, Cultural Planning, and Design Projects… [representing] the distinct character and quality of their communities” and “Projects that Build Knowledge about Creative Placemaking.” The latter fund arts and design service organizations as they support those doing place-based work. Awards range from $20,000 to $200,000 and require a 1 to 1 nonfederal funding match. The application deadline is September 21, 2015. Good candidates: local government and 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations with three years history of programming. For more information, click HERE.
2) The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is accepting applications for the Distance Learning and Telemedicine Grant Program. The program uses telecommunications to increase access among rural populations to education/training and healthcare services, linking “teachers and medical service providers in one area to students and patients in another.” Grants range from $50,000 to $500,000 and can be used for the purchase of telecommunications equipment and infrastructure, technical assistance for equipment, and instructional programming. Applications are due July 6, 2015. Good candidates: Entities that provide education and healthcare through telecommunication, including tribal, state, and local governing bodies, non-profit organizations, and for-profit businesses. For more information, click HERE.
3) The Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) of the Department of Justice (DOJ) released a call for COPS Hiring Grants. The grants preserve the police force and a community’s crime prevention efforts by allowing communities to build their police force: funds can be used to hire new officers and rehire officers laid off (or scheduled to be laid off). Agencies should identify a particular area of concern that new hires would help address, including “Homicide/Gun Violence,” “Homeland Security Problems,” “Building Trust,” and “School Safety.” $3.1 million in total funding is available. The application deadline is June 19, 2015. Good candidates: State, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies. For more information, click HERE.

Purse strings are tightening and budgets will be cut, but the federal government will continue to spend billions of dollars. A lot of these funds will be accessed by those who have experienced help in seeking grants, contracts and program funds!
