BELOW ARE A FEW GRANT OPPORTUNITIES THAT MIGHT BE OF INTEREST...

1) The USDA Farm to School Grants have been announced designed to increase the amount of local food supplied to school nutrition programs. The USDA's Food and Nutrition agency intends to award $ 3.5 Million to approximately 140 nationwide programs that improve students' access to local food. Planning or implementation grants will be awarded this first year of the program. Letters of Intent are due on May 18th with final applications due on June 15th. Applicants must match the 75% federal contribution with a 25% local match. Eligible applicants are local schools, local and state agencies. For more information, CLICK HERE.

2) The US Small Business Administration (SBA) invites non-profit organizations in Virginia, Ohio, and Hawaii to apply for funding for Women's Business Centers. The SBA Women's Business Center Program provides 1 to 5 year grants to support underserved and disadvantaged entrepreneurial women with technical assistance. Award ceilings are up $150,000; successful applicants must demonstrate that they can provide non-federal matching funds. The application closing date is June 15, 2012. Good candidates: "Only private, 501(c)- certified non-profit organizations that are located within and will provide services to the population of Virginia, Ohio, and Hawaii as outlined in Program Announcement OWBO-2012-01, Section III will be considered." For more information, CLICK HERE.

3) The Institute of Museum and Library Services is now accepting grant applications for the Learning Labs in Libraries and Museums grant program. Up to $100,000 is available to each successful applicant to develop labs that "engage middle- and high-school youth in mentor-led, interest-based, youth-centered collaborative learning using digital and traditional media." Innovative programs are especially welcome as funded projects are expected to be prototypes for the field. Cost sharing or funding match is encouraged, but not required. The application closing date is June 15, 2012; two webinars are scheduled for May 9 and 23, 2012 to assist potential applicants. Good candidates: applicants must be either a unit of state or local government or a private nonprofit organization that has tax-exempt status under. For more information, CLICK HERE.

Purse strings are tightening and budgets will be cut, but the federal government will continue to spend billions of dollars. A lot of these funds will be accessed by those who have experienced help in seeking grants, contracts and program funds!
