In this “GRANTS ALERT” edition, you will be able to pinpoint a sampling of current funding options that will benefit your community, association, company, client, and perhaps even your children!  A link will connect you to more details.

BELOW ARE A FEW GRANT OPPORTUNITIES THAT MIGHT BE OF INTEREST

1) The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) administers the Second Chance Act, which works to safely and successfully re-integrate formerly incarcerated adults and juveniles into society. The Comprehensive Community-Based Adult Reentry Program Utilizing Mentors recently released a solicitation for grant proposals from non-profit organizations that link trained mentors to incarcerated adults prior to their release. Mentors will meet with individuals, identify their needs, and assist in their reentry to society through the provision of emotional support and needed services. For example, mentors may work with the individual to establish employment, or help them get connected with housing services or a substance abuse program. Up to 7 grants of $1 million each will be made. The application deadline is June 11, 2015. Good candidates: 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations providing comprehensive, evidence-based reentry services. For more information, click HERE.

2) The Chico’s Charitable Giving Program puts its philanthropic focus on “Women and Children” and “Community.” Grants to support women and children will attend to the following issues: Improving healthcare for women and children; empowering women; stopping violence against women and children; improving early education and k-12 classroom programs. Grants to support the community should address the need for arts, green space, and community festivals that promote the needs of women and children. Chico’s offers three kinds of funding: (1) operating support (help with fundraising and/or donation of equipment and supplies), (2) sponsor or purchase tables at public events, and (3) capital campaigns for facilities construction or renovation. Applications are reviewed four times a year; the next round of review begins July 1, 2015. Good candidates: 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations. For more information, click HERE.

3) The Home Depot Foundation offers Community Impact Grants to improve the physical health of neighborhoods and communities.  In particular, the Foundation is happy to support veterans and funding preferences may be given to projects that improve homes or facilities (schools, community centers, senior centers) that serve veterans and their families. Proposals that address the need for housing repairs, modifications, weatherization, and landscaping are most frequently funded. Up to $5,000 in Home Depot gift cards will be awarded to each successful applicant. The application deadline is September 1, 2015. Good candidates: 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations (follow the link for additional eligibility requirements). For more information, click HERE.
