1) The Department of Transportation (DOT) released a call for applications for TIGER V grants. Capital Partnerships wrote a winning Round one TIGER grant!!
(Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery) grants are meant to stimulate job growth while improving the nation’s transportation infrastructure. $474 million in funds will be made to local, regional, or state applicants with projects that can proceed rapidly and that will have a “significant impact on the nation, a metropolitan area, or a region.” Past successful projects include the restoration of roads and bridges, and the development of rail lines, for example; projects posing investments in port infrastructure, public and freight transportation are also invited. Reviewers will also look for applications that propose to create jobs, improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions, and improve safety. No pre-application is required and applications are due June 3, 2013. Good candidates: State, local, and tribal governments, U.S. territories, port authorities, metropolitan planning agencies, and multijurisdictional applicants applying through a single eligible lead applicant.
