BELOW ARE A FEW GRANT OPPORTUNITIES THAT MIGHT BE OF INTEREST... |
|
| |
1) The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will see their grant opportunities consolidated for fiscal year 2012 in order to improve efficiency and focus funding at the state level. 16 homeland security grant programs that have been funded in the past have been revisited and revised to create the State Homeland Security Grant Program (HSHP) that has $294 million available for disbursement this year. HSHP grants support strategies "to address the identified planning, organization, equipment, training, and exercise needs to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism and other catastrophic events." The application closing date is May 4, 2012 (complete Step 1 of the application by April 27, 2012). Good candidates: Only State Administrative Agencies may apply. For more information, CLICK HERE.
2) The Department of the Interior (DOI) offers the FY 2013 Multistate Conservation Grant Program, funding up to $6 million dollars (award ceilings set at $1 million). The Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service-Division of Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration administer the program and will reward applicants that provide multi-state proposals that focus on the conservation of fish and wildlife resources. The application closing date is August 6, 2012 (letters of intent must be submitted and approved in advance). Good candidates: state governments, public and private higher education institutions, and non-profit organizations. For more information, CLICK HERE.
3) The Department of Justice's (DOJ) Bureau of Justice Assistance is now accepting grant applications for the Byrne Criminal Justice Innovation Program. This program recognizes that public safety is connected to community revitalization and seeks to aid those communities that are most distressed with innovative projects that generate "comprehensive place-based and community-oriented initiatives that involve service providers from multiple sectors and disciplines, as well as community representatives from all types of organizations, to work together to reduce and prevent crime and to revitalize communities." There is an award ceiling of $1 million per application; the application closing date is July 7, 2012. Good candidates: include states, unit of local governments, non-profit organizations, and federally recognized Indian tribal governments as determined by the Secretary of the Interior. For more information, CLICK HERE.
4) Walmart is partnering with Kellogg, Kraft, ConAgra and General Mills to host an initiative to fight hunger in the nation's highest regions of unemployment. The campaign is housed on Facebook where users can comment to vote for communities with the most need. One community will win $1 million and twenty (20) others will receive $50,000 each. For more information, CLICK HERE.
Purse strings are tightening and budgets will be cut, but the federal government will continue to spend billions of dollars. A lot of these funds will be accessed by those who have experienced help in seeking grants, contracts and program funds!
