BELOW ARE A FEW GRANT OPPORTUNITIES THAT MIGHT BE OF INTEREST |
|
| |
1) The Department of Transportation (DOT) will support 74 graduate education fellowships in transportation studies with the Dwight D. Eisenhower Fellowship Program. The fellowship is especially relevant for transportation professionals seeking professional development opportunities by pursuing a master’s or doctoral level degree. Applicants may work in and research any mode of transportation to be eligible for this fellowship. Over $1 million in funding is available for the year; master’s students can receive up to $1,700/month and doctoral students may receive up to $2,000/month. The application deadline is April 1, 2013. Good candidates: Individuals with a baccalaureate degree from a U.S. institution that plan to pursue transportation-related graduate research degrees (must be enrolled in an accredited university) and who will work in transportation-related fields in the U.S. upon graduation. For more information, CLICK HERE.
2) The Department of Labor (DOL) and the Employment and Training Administration (ETA) are funding the YouthBuild Program. The YouthBuild Program enables community organizations to provide education and employment skills and job finding services to underprivileged youth. The grant announcement clarifies that the target population is “youth between the ages of 16 and 24 who are high school dropouts, adjudicated youth, youth aging out of foster care, youth with disabilities, and other at-risk youth populations.” YouthBuild supported programs offer a combination of in-class alternative education as well as job skills acquisition; a key skill supported by the program is construction—a field with growing employment demand and one in which graduates may contribute to their home communities by improving housing for the low income regions that host YouthBuild programs. $75 million is available with an award ceiling of up to $1.1 million. The application deadline is March 19, 2013. Good candidates: Non-profit organizations that serve at-risk youth and any non-profit organization that is eligible to provide education or employment training under a federal program. For more information, CLICK HERE.
3) The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) provides fellowships for early career researchers through their Research Opportunities through Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) Program. Researchers may conduct basic or applied research in the science and technology fields relevant to NASA’s mission: Earth Science, Heliophysics, Planetary Science, and Astrophysics. Awards will vary from $100,000 per year for smaller research projects of limited scope up to $1 million per year for larger projects; projects and funding typically last for four (4) years. Proposals will be accepted May 1, 2013 through March 31, 2014. Good candidates: Any organization—domestic or foreign (foreign organizations will not receive funds), federal, state or private, and for-profit as well as non-profit—may apply. Applying organizations must register with NSPIRES. For more information, CLICK HERE.
