BELOW ARE A FEW GRANT OPPORTUNITIES THAT MIGHT BE OF INTEREST |
|
| |
1) The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) hosts the Regional Ocean Partnership Funding Program. The program promotes effective management of both the coasts and oceans by encouraging resource sharing and planning collaboration among coastal states, federal agencies and partners. To address the priorities of federal agencies, applicants should recognize the Department of Commerce’s aims for federally funded programs to “support coastal communities that are environmentally and economically sustainable, and support climate adaptation and mitigation” in an effort to adapt to climate change. Applications are sought from all the coastal regions (e.g., Great Lakes, West Coast, Mid-Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico, etc.). Ten (10) awards will be made with an award ceiling of up to $500,000. The newly extended application deadline is February 20, 2013. Good candidates: State, local, and Native American governments, state, private and public controlled higher education institutions, non-profit organizations, for profit organizations and small businesses. For more information, CLICK HERE.
2) The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Farm to School Grant Program is accepting applications. The Farm to School Grant Program builds relationships among schools, families and local farmers, while contributing to nutritious school lunch programming. The program will distribute $5 million to up to 70 successful applicants. The majority of the $5 million will be awarded to programs that directly improve access to local foods among eligible schools through plans for implementation and/or support. Approximately 25% of the total allocated funding may be awarded for proposals for farm-to-school program planning. The application deadline is April 24, 2013. Good candidates: Eligible schools, state and local agencies, Native American agricultural producers, and non-profit organizations. For more information, CLICK HERE.
3) The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has a call for proposals for the Conservation Innovation Grant (CIG). CIG grants facilitate the implementation of technology and practices that have proved effective in managing environmental conservation. The notice states that CIG grants are “a vehicle to stimulate development and adoption of conservation approaches or technologies that have been studied sufficiently to indicate a high likelihood of success, and that are a candidate for eventual technology transfer or institutionalization.” This year, CIG grants also welcome applicants wishing to focus on drought-prone regions. $25 million in total funding is available. The pre-proposal deadline is March 15, 2013; successful applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal due in May. Good candidates: State, local, and Native American tribal governments; public, private, and state controlled institutions of higher education; non-profits organizations; for-profit organizations and small businesses.
