BELOW ARE A FEW GRANT OPPORTUNITIES THAT MIGHT BE OF INTEREST...

1) The National Cancer Institute (NCI) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced a grant program with an award ceiling of up to $200,000 for Developmental Research in Cancer Prognosis and Prediction (R21). The award seeks to fund research aimed at cancer detection, diagnosis and treatment. More specifically, awards will be granted to organizations working to "develop newly discovered biomarkers from initial correlative observations into assays or test systems suitable for use in clinical trials or other types of confirmatory clinical research studies. This program will provide tools whose purpose is to improve clinical decision-making in the care of cancer patients." Applications are due on May 7, 2012. Good candidates: state and local governments, public and private universities, Native American governments and organizations, non-profit organizations as well as for profit businesses. For more information, CLICK HERE.

2) US HUD has released a notice of funding availability, policy and general requirements for the 2012 fiscal year. A specific list of program opportunities will be released on the HUD website, but funding priorities are clustered around the following issues: job creation, sustainability, fair housing, capacity-building and knowledge-sharing between state and local governments and nonprofit partners around HUD initiatives, and programs that "connect HUD assistance to other federal agency programs and benefits in efforts to improve outcomes such as the health, education, safety, environmental, and/or economic outcomes of target populations." Follow the link below to learn about individual programs for more information on eligible applicants, application deadlines and grant award amounts. For more information, CLICK HERE.

3) The Institute of Museum and Library Services offers National Leadership Grants that will provide between $50,000 and $500,000 in awards in support of projects that address challenges in library, archival and museums fields. Applicants can submit proposals for Project, Planning or National Forum Grants under any of the following four categories: Advancing digital resources, research, demonstration, and library-museum collaboration. The grant application deadline is February 1, 2012. Good candidates: Libraries and museums that meet the eligibility criteria, public or private non-profit organizations, academic institutions, and associations that advance museums and the profession. Purse strings are tightening and budgets will be cut, but the federal government will continue to spend billions of dollars. A lot of these funds will be accessed by those who have experienced help in seeking grants, contracts and program funds!
