BELOW ARE A FEW GRANT OPPORTUNITIES THAT MIGHT BE OF INTEREST... |
|
| |
1) The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) offers up to $3.8 million in their Urban Waters Small Grants Program. Grants will fund a wide variety of innovative projects that aim to improve water quality and support community revitalization in urban settings. Funded projects may be research-oriented studies, and/or oriented toward training or demonstration. There is an extended FAQ linked at the website below that details the kinds of projects that may be supported by the small grants program such as the design of cityscape rain gardens, waste disposal education to clean up water supplies, documentary or other education and outreach strategy on local water issues. The application deadline is quickly approaching: January 23, 2012. Good candidates: State and local governments, interstate agencies, public and private universities, Native American governments and organizations, and public and private non-profit organizations. Individuals, for-profit commercial entities and all federal agencies are not eligible to apply. For more information, click here: For more information, CLICK HERE.
2) THE EPA is also currently offering funding for Brownfields Multi-Purpose Pilot Grants in order to support the assessment and cleanup of a brownfield site. The agency is offering $5.5 million in funding with an award ceiling of $550,000 for individual projects. Proposals will be evaluated based on the economic and environmental needs of the community in which the brownfield is sited, vision for beneficial reuse of the land and ability to achieve that vision, and partnerships and other resources that can be brought to the project in addition to the EPA-funded grant. The proposal application deadline is February 10, 2012. Good candidates: The EPA specifies that "Only applicants who have received an EPA Brownfields grant in 2003 or later are eligible to apply for the Multi-purpose pilot grant. Applicants who received a brownfields grant prior to 2003 are not eligible to apply." For more information, CLICK HERE.
3) The National Endowment for the Arts is accepting applications for Our Town Grants. $25,000 up to $150,000 will be available to applications seeking to make art central to their community revitalization efforts. A key driver for these projects is to strengthen the identities as well as economies of the community and raise quality of life through arts that value place-making among local residents. Applications should demonstrate partnerships between local government and arts or design organizations and must reflect: "A systemic approach to civic development and a persuasive vision for enhanced community vibrancy; Clearly defined civic development goals and objectives that recognize and enhance the role that the arts and design play at the center of community life; An action plan aligned with the project vision and civic development goals; A funding plan that is appropriate, feasible, indicates strong community support, and includes a well-conceived sustainability strategy." The grant application deadline is March 1, 2012. Good candidates: All applications must have partnerships that involve two primary partners: a nonprofit organization and a local governmental entity. One of the two primary partners must be a cultural (arts or design) organization. Additional partners are welcomed. For more information, CLICK HERE.
Purse strings are tightening and budgets will be cut, but the federal government will continue to spend billions of dollars. A lot of these funds will be accessed by those who have experienced help in seeking grants, contracts and program funds!
